IV/42 Islamic Persian

DBA 2.2

15mm Essex Miniatures

This Army consists of 12 elements with no options available.

1 x (Gen) 3Cv, 7 x 3Cv, 1 x 2Lh, 2 x 3Bw, 1 x 7Hd

Historical Enemies: IIkhanid, Mongol, Ottoman, Jalayirid, Timurid, Turkoman and Persian's fought among themselves.

Historical Notes: ............will be added soon

Another fun Essex Army Pack to paint and perhaps one of my best work, but, once again I personally think Essex got it wrong with their figure choices I'm referring to the foot elements. The 3Bw - foot archers should have been code EMED63 Persian Dismounted Horse Archers and the Horde element perhaps? should have been code RNO8 Medium / Heavy Infantrymen to represent the Household Militia Guards.

Army Arrayed

General 3Cv

Cavalry 3Cv and 2Lh

Cavalry 3Cv with 2Lh

Foot Archers 3Bw

Militia 7Hd

    A great job.
    A good series of pictures.
I not understand to gaming method /system, but the characters are fine
    Especially in the Islamic cavalry.

  7. You are truly a master . Well done on the cavalry.
    You must have steady hands.

    1. Thanks Joe for your kind words, regarding to steady hands, I must admit now and then I do get finger muscle cramps painting miniatures. I should discipline myself when to stop and start painting figures, but on the other hand,no pun intended, I'm stubborn :o) when it comes to finishing off projects... cheers

    1. Thanks Peter for your comments, during the last four or five years my miniatures painting palate has changed and have moved towards using more soft pastel colors, mind you now and then I will use some bold bright colors for certain figures and armies... cheers!

  10. Lovely army from A to Z. I do love your shieldwork and the cavalry!

Is this a tricky army to run, lacking the heavy punch of knights? Would it be shoot and scoot, wearing the other side down?

    1. Thanks Monty, yep you got it right, the player running this army has a tough fight on his tactical decision making during the game/battle with no infantry support the Islamic Persians need to not only out think but perform a series of moves requiring skill and care to flank his opponents units. very difficult to do this considering the Persians are facing light cavalry armies i.e. IIkhanid, Ottomans and the Mongols....

um :o) a couple of weeks ago I discovered I had an another Islamic Army Pack in an old shoe box with other medieval packs of miniatures which was a little embarrassing to find, the discovery of the extra army pack will used for Islamic Persian Civil Wars, Cavalry vs Cavalry brawl.. a slug fest :o) cheers!

  13. Lovely paintjob, with excellent use of colour. Armies like this can be an excuse to use colours you dont normally get to use on drabber western armies. The Turquoise is very eye catching and stands out very well. Very impressive

    1. Thanks Phil, I appreciate your kind words and thoughts regarding to my painting style and choices of colours for this army or any other similar army i.e. Seljuq Turks ;o) personally I think middle eastern - Islamic armies should have a splash of pastel (soft bright) colours to make the figures pop out more and um hmm more of eye candy appeal.

      all the best,
      cheers
