28mm Eagle Miniatures: Painted this Saxon von Polenz Chevauleger cavalryman after a break painting Napoleonic Infantry. My Saxon Infantry Corps - Cavalry Brigade support units will consist of Two Chevaulegers (Light.Dragoons) Regiments, One 1813 Ulan (Lancers) Regiment (to be used for the 1812 Campaign Russia as well) and One Hussar Regiment. I'm thinking of basing the Cavalry, 2 figures on 40mm x 50mm stands. (6 bases per Regiment)
Awesome looking Hussar, Phil. You're certainly pulling out all the stops with your Napoleonics - what with the hound's tooth edging on the shabraque and the Hungarian knots on the earlier figures. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI have to be careful not to burn myself out during my painting sessions. I have 48 troopers and 48 horses (miniatures) to paint up before completing the Saxon Cavalry :o)
DeleteThanks Dean,
cheers
Yes i like this too, nice combo of red and pale blue on the jacket, and nice fancy lacing on the horses shabraque.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris for your kind commentary.
Deletecheers,
Very nice work with some great detailing Phil!

Thanks Christopher!
Deletecheers,
Terrific! The red jacket with sky blue facings and white webbing is an appealing combination.
ReplyDeleteGreat start!
Great proof of concept figure. The colors of the Saxon cavalry are especially noce, and you figure real;ly highlights that.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely do a unit of heavies, too. If Eagle doesn't make them, Eureka has some great figured for them. I can't say how they'd match up together, however.
Lovely work Phil!
ReplyDeleteThese look great Phil. I was wondering where to get Saxon chevau legers and hadn't thought of Eagle, even though I have purchased some of their Spanish in the past and Ian McCulloch is great to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% Ian McCulloch is a fantastic guy to work with, great customer service to boot too! Ian also sent free infantry figures (Saxon and Prussians) the figures match up well side by side with Old glory 2nd Edition and Sash & Saber Napoleonic's. Eagle figures are great, but the horses legs/ankle/hoofs are little weak in terms of lead casting to their base, some horses actually snapped off. Ian offered to replace the horses which I decline, no big deal really for me, I used green stuff/super glue to do the minor repairs....anyway.. having said that, I will still buy Eagle miniatures! :o)
DeleteThanks Lawrence!
cheers mate! :o)
Details are just amazing...excellent job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil! all the best to you Sir! :o)
