(My apologies for some of the pictures which came out a little blurry)
Persian's
Hellenistic
These guys (single generals) are for my Xyston - Successors and Later Macedonians DBA & Basic Impetves Armies currently working on....
Outstanding! Great colors and fine detail work. Your detailing on 15s is quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan!
DeleteSuperb painting Phil, the colour schemes are nicely varied, it is easy to think that these figures are much larger than they really are. I particularly like the extra added detailing on the horses, macedonian armour (the pteruges) and persian cloaks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, I think my problem painting 28's is that for some reason I cannot paint details on them, don't know why, but with 15s or 18's I can....
Deletelooking forward seeing your painted 15/18mm Army! ;o)
cheers,
Again nice job Phil.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Christopher, Legio Heroica miniatures are perfect for Medieval period, AB and Warmodelling Miniatures (Fantassin Miniatures) are great for Napoleonic's... there are so many other great miniatures lines to consider, i.e. 18mm Blue moon Miniatures....
ReplyDeletehehehe....lets have a party and "live" and enjoy painting pocket armies...more the better! :o)
I like Basic Impetves Armies/rules have so ever sine they came out for free 2006/7? in BI Venexia Miniatures Army boxes...
cheers,
Thanks Phil! appreciate your kind words...not looking forward working on the infantry and cavalry :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, using good quality thin line brushes does help painting such details.....on the wee little figures... :o) I know you are busy working on your Swiss 28's but I hope to see your painted 15/18's as well!
ReplyDeletecheers,
Thanks Monty, purchased one basic impetus Venexia Miniatures Maximilian Imperial 1494 - 1518 army box 2006/7? great looking figures still in their bags and I enjoyed reading the free copy of BI rules enclosed and I was hooked! :o) with "small armies"
ReplyDeletecheers,
Oooo I like these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark!...
DeleteI've been kicking myself for not buying those box sets when they were released as they are now OOP. Best 15mm Italian Wars ever.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
BI is fun, but I prefer full Impetus as it addresses some of the holes of BI, but does add more complexity and figure requirements.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Hey Christopher,
ReplyDeletewell you never know ;o) you may get one!
I have all box sets! one each list below, I missed out getting the Ottomans!
French 1522 - 1559
Maximilian Imperial 1494 - 1518
Spanish 1503 - 1518
Spanish Charles V 1519 - 1534
Swiss Confederates 1494 - 1515
Venetians 1494 - 1559
cheers,
BI has extra combat factors to speed up the game, if players accept the structure of BI simple rules (moving shooting melee etc) then they will have fun playing 2 maybe 3 games in one day(great to play quick campaigns). and yes, your right FI has more detail rules which, in my own opinion unnecessary, or perhaps FI is meant to "prolong" the game? :o) just kidding....
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Impetvs 2 edition...
all the best Christopher!
Lovely Persian and Macedonian generals Phil!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking Generals; I often have trouble finding suitable figures for commanders in 28mm.
ReplyDeleteHi Pete, thanks for your kind comment, there must be great looking single 28mm generals miniatures out there to buy and add to your collections?
DeleteGorgeous work on these, especially the Persians.
ReplyDeleteFMB
