Saxon Napoleonic Hussar Regiment




Oops! ;oP I painted the Saxon Hussar Trumpeter with the wrong colours. The figure should (which I corrected) have blue shako and red Dolman......and it looks like GMB Designs do not produce flags for 28mm Napoleonic Saxon Cavalry..... anyway.... Hazzah!

    Lovely painting, Phil, especially on all the Hussar lace! Der Koenig will be pleased with them. My Saxon Hussars have been solid tabletop performers, too. Hopefully yours will be as well.

    (BTW. I now had to go back and check my own Saxon Hussars to be sure *I* had them in the red dolman - yep! It is a rather unusual distinction for a German cavalry unit.)

      Thank you so much for your kind words Pete, much appreciated!
      I was a little surprised the Eagle Hussar figures had or have long "pigtails" or 'queue" with a ribbon painted red (you can see them in the photos above)

      I love commanding light units (cavalry/infantry) move quickly across the wargames table and I usually charge at first opportunity ;o)

    Thanks Jonathan, actually at first, I painted each lace one at a time which was a bit of a slog, only to realize later "dry brushing" over the lace would be better and quicker! :o)

      Thanks Paul! I used "Blue Jean" craft-smart Acrylic paint on the these Saxons... or if you like, mix a bit of gray with regular blue to get "Blue Jean" colour....

    28mm Eagle Miniatures are lovely sculpts, but Elite 28mm Miniatures are now casting 1810-13 Saxon Hussars figures!
